#48 Raised in a cult pt1 “There is No Hate Like ‘Christian’ Love” with Fofo

Sensitive Content-“Cultism is a religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader”. Some of these organizations are subtitle and are not always obvious to the every day person especially when vulnerable and looking for belonging. Many of these organization use extreme and harsh doctrines to keep there followers hooked on a message of hope and “love”. 

This episode is a two part episode with our guest Fofo who spent most of her childhood and a part of her 20’s in such an environment. She shares her experience and a bit of the experience of her parents specifically her mother and how this places; message was her safe haven in in this life full of turmoil. We dive deep in conversation and share about the way the message was introduced to her mother, the use of psychology and manipulation in these organizations, being ostracized for deciding to leave, the mental health challenges she had during and after and much more.
